Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you and your families are well.
Wow, what a fantastically positive start we've had to the year at Danebury. The pupils have certainly returned invigorated from the summer break, there is such an air of positivity, kindness and engagement, long may that last!
I've been so impressed with the attitude to learning in the main, the ratio of positive to negative points has broken records. Year 7 has maintained 100%, very impressive indeed. Year 9 are very close behind with 99%; all the year groups are above 97%.
On Wednesday we held our first Danebury Open Evening. We had an amazing turn out. I was proud to be able to share our school improvement journey with the audience. The school had a make-over this summer, with new tables, chairs, blinds, displays and signage which has certainly improved our environment. I was overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received on the night and the following day, I look forward to welcoming more visitors on our Open Mornings on 18th September, 28th September and 1st October 2024. A special thanks must go to our wonderful pupils who gave speeches and toured our guests around, they were simply stunning.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderfully supportive PTA. They put an incredible amount of work in to help all of our pupils and the Danebury Team. They arrived this morning with a piano which has been kindly donated by Winterbourne Earls Primary School, a special thanks to Mrs Tattersall for making this happen. Our pupils have been taking turns to entertain the school at breaks and lunch, we have so much hidden talent emerging as a result of this kind donation. Thanks to the parents who helped deliver it this morning. Also, huge thanks to Mrs Lovell and family for coming in and brightening up the flower beds.
Following on from my email regarding the busing situation, I can only apologise for the end of the day delays, this is largely out of my hands. Rest assured, sorting this situation out is at the forefront of my mind every day. I will update you next week,
On Monday we will have the school photographer in and all pupils will have a photo in their new uniform.
Have a lovely weekend when it arrives, the forecast is looking better for next week!
Warm wishes, Nicky Goodridge
