Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful week we've had, so many achievements to celebrate within and beyond the classroom.
Many thanks to those of you who came along to watch the Carol Concert at St.Peter's Church. The standard of each performance was excellent. I'm in awe of our pupil's courage and talent. What a wonderful venue to come together as a community at Christmas.
On Wednesday our whole school Christmas lunch was run by our LORIC Hospitality group and directed by Mrs Allsopp. It was heartwarming to have all the pupils sitting down together for lunch and enjoying the entertainment. I think we can safely say our hospitality group had a first-hand experience of how stressful it is to serve over 300 lunches in 90 minutes! Great team effort and a special thank you to Mrs Allsopp for her calm leadership of the event!
Well done to all our pupils who have worked hard on their LORIC projects, we can certainly see the impact of these skills being developed. The Enterprise, Food and Community group held a Christmas Fair, raising a significant amount of money for school resources. It was a privilege to listen to each member of staff's reasons for awarding the leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative and communication certificates to each pupil who received an award.
This year we wanted to ensure every pupil was recognised for their talents, staff have made their nominations and certificates have been presented. I hope the certificates make it home for you to see.
We seem to be winning a significant number of our sporting events lately, which is hugely exciting. Congratulations to the U16 Girls Netball team for winning their last game of the season against Testbourne. A thrilling match to watch, going goal for goal until the final few minutes of the match. Not only did they win the match, but also the Andover District League! Well done girls, we're very proud of you. Many thanks to Mrs Vaughan, Mrs Elgar and Miss Lovell for being great coaches.
Well done to the boys U16 Boys Basketball team who played against Upper Shirley school in Southampton this week. Sickness had depleted the team, with only 5 players ( most from Year 9), the boys played well and fought hard. Although they didn't come away with a win, they played really well and were great ambassadors for our school.
It's been a very busy term indeed; pupils and staff have worked hard and progress is being made in all areas of the school. Many thanks to those of you who've sent cards and gifts in. We really appreciate your kindness and support.
I hope you have a break over Christmas and enjoy some family time together. We look forward to welcoming your child/children back on January 6th 2025.
Nicky Goodridge, Head of School
